Hara Sushi

Posted on

If you are fond of Japanese Food, this sushi bar is a great option – it’s good and cheap. ‘Cause once something becomes famous, the price goes up high and that’s exactly what happend with our sushis ans sashimis. But Hara Sushi has this all-you-can-eat from monday to friday, so you have the whole week to enjoy it.

Of course, here in Brazil we have some particularities in the Japanese Food. You’ll get to know the amazing Hot Filadelfia. I believe it’s not a commom makimono around the world, you tell me. It’s simple the modern brazilian version of the Philadelphia. They make it hot and fried. Everybody over here loves it. You should try.

Where to find Hara Sushi. They have two adresses (and they have delivery!):

– Praia da Botafogo, 416 – loja C, Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro – RJ

– New York City Center – Av. das Américas, 5000 / 1º piso / lojas 109-110

Rio de Janeiro Int’l Film Festival

Festival do Rio
is our city’s cinema festival.  In its 13rd edition,  there will be over 350 films from 60 nationalities being shown in the city from the 6th to the 20th of  October. It has something for everyone, from the famous Almodóvar to Dario Argento’s horror.

Among the highlights: “La piel que habito” by Pedro Almodóvar, “Restless” by Gus VanSant, “George Harrison”, by Martin Scorsese, “Dark horse”, by Todd Solondz, “Separation” (winner of the Bear Berlin 2011), by Asghar Farhadi, “4:44 – Last Day on Earth” by Abel Ferrara, “We need to talk about Kevin” by Lynne Ramsay.

So far, I’ve seen Gun Hill Road, by Rashaad Ernesto Green; 3, by Tom Tykwer; Odna Voyna, by Vera Glagoleva; and The Devil’s Duble, by  Lee Tamahori, excellent choices by now, specially this last one.

Take a look at the whole film guide over here:

If any of you intend to watch one of the festival’s movies at Estação Vivo Gávea, i’m working there in some of the days, so see you there!

Hot dog at the end of the night

Posted on

If there’s anything better in cost / benefit than the Voluntários’ hot dog, you tell me! Cause if you’re around Botafogo and is almost 05 in the morning, you have just left that great party and you’re starving: Durango’s dog is the perfect match for you.

Really, really cheap, it costs around R$2,00 the hole thing: sausage, corn, peas, grated cheese… And so damn good!

The store is located at Rua Voluntários da Pátria, 10, the busiest point of Botafogo – and close to all the bars, the subway and the cinema.  3242-8961 / 7859-8939

Casa da Matriz

Posted on

So, I went to this amazing nightclub yesterday which is called Casa da Matriz. The nice thing about it is its eclethic style, its music escapes the standards of other cariocas nightclubs. Open Wednesday through Saturday, each day has a different party. On Tuesdays there’s this “Poison Party”, with a rock’n’roll set list. Eventough this is not usually the kind of music we find at dancefloors , the DJ makes it really contagious and it’s impossible to stay immobile. Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, Elvis Presley and The Cure, these are some of the names that makes everybody shaking their bodies all night long.

The Friday night, Brazooka, is a mix of Brazilian popular music and eletronic that matches really well. Seu Jorge, Chico Science, Los Hermanos  will make your Friday.

Two dance floors, great music and drinks (try the Kamikase one), I highly recommend it.
